Blog is Mooooooooooving!
I am not sure what I am going to do with this domain, but my blog is moving for sure.
In fact, it all of the posts are moved already.
I am going to try to post more – how many times have I said that? – but I really am going to try and I’d like a fresh (sort of) start.
So, on to my new adventure I go!
You’ll find me at:
Hope to see you there!
Everything I Was Supposed To Do
So I started this long weekend with good intentions.
I was going to clean the kitchen and do the dishes. Yep, I was. Oh wait…did you notice the “was”.
Oh, you did?
Whoops.
The kitchen has been condemned. That’s one way to keep people from seeing it.
I was going to get ahead with my schoolwork so that I could take tomorrow off and not have to do anything.
I have yet to do that. In fact, I just clicked on the Blackboard website to see what my assignments are and its 7:30pm.
Please don’t judge me.
My schoolwork that’s due today may be the only thing I accomplish today!
I never said it out loud but I was going to clean my office. That up there is not my office however, right not my office is the pit of despair.
Wait that’s the kitchen.
Well, the office is pretty bad too. *sigh*
What I did do this weekend was redesign my blog.
Relax.
Sleep.
& Drink way too much pop that I was supposed to have given up for lent.
Again, no judgment please!
Sometimes you just need to take some time to relax and take in life.
Tomorrow is Easter and my husband and I will be dining with my family.
Ribs, mashed potatoes, asparagus, corn and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Strawberry Shortcake.
I once asked my sister to make me this for my birthday. It’s DELICIOUS!
And in my family Strawberry Shortcake means the old “on the box” Bisquick recipe.
And now that I’ve wasted time with this post (loving that pear clock up there!) maybe I’ll fill the sink up with dirty dishes to soak and start my schoolwork that’s due before midnight!
Just maybe.
Happy Easter everyone!
Blog Redesigned!
Well, the redesign is just about finished. I am putting on the finishing touches right now and may not finish it tonight since it’s almost 3am!
Why I start these projects so late is BEYOND me!
Anyway, I like how it’s turned out. I definitely got out of my comfort zone and went for a nice, bright and colorful layout.
Ok back to work….
New Adventures
Ugh, I had this post half written and Live Writer crashed!! Dam program.
I have been swamped. I’m taking two classes right now together (Cultural Diversity and Intro to Graphic Imaging). I thought the graphic class would be easy enough that I could take another class along with it. Well, I failed to think about the workload on the other class…so it’s a bit of a struggle but I am managing.
Confession: I didn’t even turn anything in last week in one of the classes.
Yeah, I’m not managing well. I’m gonna do better though!
I’ve been in a funk. I don’t know what is going on but I’ve just been EXHAUSTED! Like I could fall asleep right this minute if I close my eyes exhausted. But I’m trying to kick myself out of it.
Because of the double school workload and the funk I’ve pretty much been neglecting my household chores, my husband, my life…And change is in order.
So, I’ve rejoined Weight Watchers online. Before we went to Florida I had done it on my own and did pretty good and more importantly, I felt good. I want to feel like that again and Lord knows I could use to lose weight!!!
And in order to keep myself accountable I have made a new blog that I will link on a tab above. I need to design it and get it going first.
I also ordered some materials, so I’m actually waiting until those arrive to start the program. I know, I should start it now…but I’m waiting.
I will post the link when I get started.
How cute are those pears?? Click on the photo to see credit and read about how they were made.
I am excited about this next part!!!
I have been trying to decide on a name for my Web Design site and business for whenever I begin to charge for my work. I original wanted “Purple Pear Web Designs” but that is already taken by a couple people. I had thrown around a few different names and decided on Pear Girl Web Designs.
I got to thinking about the name again recently and decided that I didn’t like that name…even though I registered the domain and have been sitting on it for almost a year…so back to the drawing board I went.
I decided on the name “Joyful Pear Web Designs” and I’ll tell you why. The pear part should be obvious…but the Joyful part is in honor of my Granny. Her favorite word is ‘joy’. If creativity is inherited then she is who I got mine from.
So I registered my new domain and I even designed my logo. Of course I had to design it at that moment…it’s funny because I actually sketched it out, and I don’t draw all that well…but I think it’s lovely. It’s simple.
I will share soon and this, too, will be linked above.
I don’t know when I will begin making sites for profit. I may actually start with making blog themes and go from there. I’ll have to see what happens.
If anyone has any ideas how to get something like this started, please leave me a comment. I’d appreciate any advice!
My poor photoblog has been so neglected!!! And I have forgotten more photos than I have taken. I’m going to try to work this out. Maybe I’ll just take the photos with my cell phone…hmm, that’s an idea.
Will try to start this over soon. I’ll keep ya posted!
Blog re-design is coming soon!
I am trying to get my hands on that Colorful kit below. I emailed the designer, so I’m waiting to hear back. If I don’t hear back soon then I will be on the search for a different kit. I am thinking something purpley and lovely. I dunno though….stay tuned.
When I Have Time….
Whenever I have time, I am SO redesigning my blog using the scrappy kit below:
How ABSOLUTELY fabulous is that??? I LOVE the bright colors! I love the little girl…although, I did buy some new Gorjuss girls for when I redo my blog. I am thinking maybe there’s one that would match those colors up there. Hmmmm…
Those deliciously bright rainbowy colors.
Or what about the one below by the same artist…fruity, purpley, fun fun fun!
Life is Sweet. Isn’t that the truth?
Then there’s part of me that just wants to use this adorable little robot kit and call it a day.
It’s cute in a geeky techy kind of way…I love the little waving robots!!!!
Decisions….decisions!
Don’t be surprised if you visit one day and there’s a wonderful explosion of color, some purpley fruits or smiling robots adorning the pages!!
Music Is Good For the Soul–Reviving Richelle
I have a friend named Richelle. She has some of the same diseases that my husband does (APS & Lupus specifically). That is how I met her – through the APSFA and our support forum. Richelle is a total sweetheart and I am happy that I have gotten to know her better in the past year.
Richelle has experienced incredible loss. She lost her twins due to the APS. She lost her job due to her illnesses. She lost her home, marriage, friends, family, and more if you can imagine it. She’s been through hell and back and then back again.
Yet she still fights. Many people in her same position would have given up. But she won’t give up!
She’s knocked on death’s door and thankfully has been turned away because she is still here fighting today.
Last year Richelle started writing music and songs and recording them on YouTube.
She writes songs about her life’s experiences. One of her songs, “Storytime in Heaven,” is dedicated to her twins whom she lost on November 17, 2005. “The Wolf Cry” is a song about Lupus and it’s going to be featured on a CD for Lupus awareness that is coming out soon! She recently went to Florida to record “The Wolf’s Cry” and I got to preview it and It.is.AWESOME! Actually if you go to her home page you can hear it too!
My husband and I are lucky enough to have recently won a home concert from Richelle so she will be coming here to play live for us this summer! I am very excited to meet her in person and it will be a great opportunity to get together with friends and family to have a BBQ.
Music, friends, family and food…can’t get much better than that!
I will definitely be posting photos from our concert party!
Have a listen to Richelle Perkins (Reviving Richelle) below and then let me know what you think in comments. I’ll also post her links. Check her out, like her on Facebook, follow her on Twitter… she’s living her dream and is truly an inspiration to me.

WEN Cleansing Conditioner by Chaz Dean Review
I’m a sucker for infomercials. Everything always seems lovely when they showcase it in an hour segment. The products do wonders, they amaze, they will change your life!
In reality – they are generally mediocre at best.
That brings me to Wen. I first saw Wen on an infomercial with Alyssa Milano and Chaz Dean. I was intrigued, I’ll admit it. The infomercial sucked me in. I wanted to buy it right then but was hesitant because of the cost. So I asked Santa. ![]()
And Santa delivered!
For Christmas I got three 6 oz bottles of Wen in 3 flavors – Sweet Almond, Lavender and Fig. I believe my mom, er Santa got these here.
First reaction was that the bottles were tiny! And then I read the instruction booklet – yes I said booklet!
Rinse, separate hair into 4 parts, use 10-12 pumps on each area, massage starting at the roots, comb through with a wide toothed comb, clip up and finish shower, massage again and rinse with cool water. Add in 2-3 pumps as a leave in to soaking wet hair. Do not towel dry. Only use a blow dryer with an attachment…
Really? All these specific instructions for a hair product. I was in over my head. My hair was past my shoulders and is curly and color treated. It’s thick and I don’t have a clip to clip it up in the shower and have limited time in the morning and who the heck wants to shock their system with a cool rinse first thing in the AM?
But I tried it anyway. And wow. The results were lovely! My hair was soft and shiny!!
I wasn’t sure what styling products to use so I didn’t use any. And at first I was blowing my hair partially dry with cool air, which was just making it look frizzy, in my opinion anyway so eventually I stopped that and just let it air dry. This seemed to work better.
I worked my way through all of the flavors with Sweet Almond Mint being my favorite, Lavender next and Fig made my eyes water and my hair smell funny. All of them make my scalp tingle and all of them make my hair soft, smooth and shiny.
I was still having an issue with the lack of styling product so I looked into buying one of the Wen products. I was also running out of the cleansing conditioner. I found this deal for a little over $35 delivered I got a a larger bottle of the cleansing conditioner, a styling crème, a comb, texture balm and the hair repair mask!
And here it is!
Ok, so I love the styling crème and I liked the balm when I used it once, I will use it again I’m sure, but the styling crème is great!
What I love about Wen is that it makes my hair feel clean, yet soft and shiny. It really did wonders for my curly hair when it was long and I’m working through the differences now that it’s shorter again.
What I don’t love about Wen is the cost…although, I do use less product and have been washing my hair every other day rather than every day. I also have found that it leaves my hair flaky. Not like itchy scalp like dandruff, but flaky like the product is flaking off flaky. I have read online that other people have had this problem as well. I am wondering if I am using too much product or something. Not sure, it’s still a work in progress.
I want to try the Tea Tree Oil flavor as well as the Cucumber Aloe flavor. And I guess there is a Pomegranate flavor as well!
And now some links for you:
Wen on Amazon – You will probably find the best prices on Amazon
Wen on QVC – If you can catch the Wen segment on TV, watch it!
Thirty-One
My friend has been selling Thirty-One gifts for a few months and I’ve been meaning to add a little link to my blog as well as talk about them a little bit. They are really nice items and the colors are really modern. There’s a ton of different bags, storage and organizational items as well as some other goodies and most can be personalized for a small fee.
Right now she is having a sale on these awesome little lunch bags. A number of the ladies who work with me have them and use them on a daily basis. I also have one and just ordered another! I love them that much!
The flyer is below (click to see the original flyer) and her link is: http://www.mythirtyone.com/lockhart/
A little about Thirty-One:

A Photo a Day for 2011
I am going to try the photo a day challenge for 2011. I started a new blog for it and will add a link here. I should have just made one on this site. I may do that. So this may change, but for now the link is:
http://peargirl365.blogspot.com/
I am going to try to keep up with it. My cell phone takes pretty good photos so I should be able to catch a decent photo no matter where I go!
Here’s a site on this photo a day project: http://content.photojojo.com/tutorials/project-365-take-a-photo-a-day/
