I love the holistic pet food created by veterinarian Dr. Jane Bicks. (www.DogSmithNutrition.com) She has her own stand-alone manufacturing facility, so there is no worry about cross-contamination of equipment by other pet-food manufacturers using lower-quality ingredients. She makes the food in small batches and quality control tests every one.

She uses only human-grade ingredients, and no corn, wheat or soy products. No preservatives or dyes. The foods are fast-cooked to retain the maximum amount of nutrients, and she refuses to sell the product via stores because she doesn't want it sitting on store shelves (because of the absence of preservatives). So you order it online through a registered agent, and it ships to your door! The best part is that she encourages customers to call into a monthly conference call she does and ask questions about the food. Can't do that with Iams or Science Diet!

Also, please note that each 40-lb bag of kibble contains approximately 160 cups. Each cup of dog food has 483 kcal/cup. Check whatever food you're using now, because this is very nutritionally-dense food and most people find they need to feed much less of it to maintain their pets' weights. I cut my 70-lb pointer back from 2 cups twice a day to 1.3 cups twice a day. My heeler gets half a cup twice a day.

Hope this helps! I just love the products!

Trust me I am still fuming on the whole INR thing. The doctor is lucky he didn't talk to me directly as I was in a "good mood" to deal with this type of incompentence. I would have ate him for lunch and had left overs for dinner. I have never seen a situation in where a doctor could not follow BASIC INR protocals. For love of God, Mayo has a protocol for this. It is set up as an algothrim. Now, if silly little me can figure it out, why can't the guy with MD who is also a board certified hematologist figure it out. I just do not get it. And no, I never should have gotten as much info as I did.

Let's hope things change SOON for Todd as his INR has been subtheraputic (for those of you who know what we are talking about an INR of 1.2 & 1.3) for way to long - like MONTHS. They are VERY lucky he has not had a major complication from their ignorance (or is it arrogance - well maybe a little of both. LOL)

I have no problem going to bat for people. Need help again, please feel to ring.

Thanks for sharing your story and posting your article during invisible illness week. I just came across the event today by accident and was fortunate enough to see your post.

Our family is experiencing a similar situation.

My name is Jim and I live in Houston Texas with my wife,(Sunshine), and two kids, (J.J.,age 12) and (April, age 9).

My wife and I were married in 1996 and four years later in the year 2000, I became ill with several mysterious invisible illness(s),called fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue/pain/arthritis/(whatever else you want to add)I probably have it, and my wife was thrown into the same situation as you were put in.

Most people, put in the situation of caring for a disabled spouse, along with all that comes with it, would "abandon ship", and never look back.

But, there are a few special people that run toward the challenge, embrace it, and never look back. Those people are truly unique, and God shower's them with blessings, peace, and joy.

It's good to see that there is another angel on the planet doing God's work.

Our 4 year old Lab smells like Cow Manure and when I googled it your blog came up and I was sure hoping you had discovered the source!!HA Nothing is that easy. I've had her sacks emptied and treated her ears and have gotten down and smelled every bit of her....don't know what cavity it is coming from but it is frustrating making excuses for her all the time and she knows we are talking about her. HA

Hey Heidi,

That is a good movie and a real tear jerker. I was wondering if you got a chance to see my earlier comment on a post you made about World's Best Cat Litter™ back in October. I was really excited to see that you liked it and wanted to provide you with a free bag if you would like. Just simply forward a message over to drewwbcl@gmail.com and we would be happy to send one out to you!

Thanks,
-Drew
